Monsters (71.dat) documents the 26 records in
71.dat
: the named leaders of the Dogof thieves. They are the descendants Dogof II to Dogof XVIII, plus gang members such as Great Gets, Chomban the Cask, Unforgiven Gany, Dadas the Speed, Darkprince Doran, Macho Mondes, Blue Vulture Muo, Adow the Faith, Exploder Eidun and Morni. It is a record-type-9 monster file (32-column stat line).
cpt71.txt
has a Korean description for every row; its English half is
0
throughout (see #Descriptions). 71.dat is not loaded by the client. Like 72.dat, it has no slot in
rg.exe
's dat table (
TextFile_Dat_FileNum_to_value
@
0x00485760
), and an entity sent as dat 71 crashes the client. Unlike 72.dat, its rows are ordinary monsters: 62.dat attack records (col8/col9 and col12/col13), a 61.dat body record (col25/col26), and a second appearance row (col10 = 365). == A work-in-progress file == Everything points to these being unfinished bosses: * Borrowed models. Every row's model (col24) belongs to another monster.
Mn31_02
/
Mn31_03
are Linezep/Scrazep (64.dat 26/27, the Zep stones), and
Mn32_01
is Gorkeid (65.dat 19). No row has a model of its own. * Placeholder stats. Only Dogof XVII (Life 960, DEF 80, AGL 300, Exp 80) and Great Gets (Life 2520, DEF 90, AGL 380, Exp 540) look tuned. Most of the rest carry Life 200 / Exp 9999 / all stats 0. Four (Unforgiven Gany, Dadas the Speed, Darkprince Doran, Macho Mondes) have the "unbeatable" block Life 9989 / DEF 999 / AGL 999. * Untranslated text.
cpt71.txt
has full Korean descriptions, but the English half of every line was left as
0
. * The Dogof's Charm set. The game has 19 numbered charms (36.dat 123-141), each "once owned by Dogof the Nth, a descendant of the great Dogof the Thief who at one time was the cause of great disruption in the world". 71.dat holds the droppers of charms 2-12 and 14-18. Charm 1 is The Great Dogof, and charms 13 and 19 are dropped by humans in 72.dat. Two items are misnamed: 140 (Dugom's fang, dropped by Dogof XVIII) and 141 (Manaha's fang) are described as Dogof's charms 18 and 19. Together this suggests a planned collect-the-charms hunt across the Dogof line that was never finished. == Who they are == Each row has its own description in
cpt71.txt
(#Descriptions): the leaders run bandit gangs of their own (the Night Watch, the Jeokjon Band, the Gany Band, the Sound Barriers, the Blue Eagles, the Godon Air Force, the Mondes Band, the Law of the Outlaws, the Explosive Army, the Smile Band), and every Dogof claims to be the heir of the original Dogof. The rest of the data fills in the story. Dogof's history (
cpt71.txt
/
cpt72.txt
): the original Dogof was a great thief who shook the world some 30 years ago. He founded a bandit nation on Mt. Iraman until the three generals of present-day Gratz destroyed it, and Dogof disappeared. The Dogof legend. Townspeople in the NPC dialogue (
npcdata/menu
5-220, 5-230, 5-231, 74-18) say Dogof was a legendary, heroic bandit who once destroyed an evil bandit gang on his own. Nowadays every bandit calls himself "Dogof the Nth" ("they've no individuality at all"), and the traditional bandits of Mt. Iraman (μ΄λΌλ§¨ μ°) are led by Dogof XVII. The 36.dat charms tell the same story: each is "a charm once owned by Dogof the Nth, a descendant of the great Dogof the Thief who at one time was the cause of great disruption in the world". Dogof XVII also exists as an NPC (5.dat 95, model
Nm24
). His description (
cpt05.txt
95): : I'm Dogof the 17th, the descendant of a great thief. Another chap named Dogof is a fake. There is no relation between that imposter and me! I am a descendant of an unbroken line directly from the thief Great Dogof the First. Ha, ha, ha. His dialogue (
npcdata/menu/5-95.msgs
, summarized from Korean): * Mt. Iraman is his hideout. He means to conquer the world, which his ancestor never managed. * His gang, "the bandits among bandits", only "collects a small toll" from travellers in exchange for their safety. * Asked whether you came to defeat him, he laughs at your courage: the gang is already finished. Monsters killed or drove off all his men and he is alone on the mountain; the crimes blamed on bandits were the monsters' doing. * There are fakes calling themselves Dogof; the real one is only him. First he has to rebuild the Dogof gang. * With the authorities on his trail he flees to the Death Desert, the former gang boss now wandering the sands. So 71.dat reads as Dogof XVII's gang: his lieutenants (Great Gets, Chomban the Cask, Unforgiven Gany, Dadas the Speed, Blue Vulture Muo, Darkprince Doran, Macho Mondes, Adow the Faith, Exploder Eidun, Morni) and the numbered impostor Dogofs (II-XVIII), each carrying one charm of the set. Three other Dogofs are NPCs too, each with the same boast (
cpt05.txt
174-176): Dogof XVI (5/174, model
Nm04_01
), Dogof XIII (5/175,
Pm05_01
) and Dogof XIX (5/176,
Pm06_02
): : I am the bandit Dogof the 16th. There are many men who impersonate me. By thunder! It's despicable! Fame is a double-edged sword! If you have chance to escape from me be sure to spread the word in town that the real Dogof is the 16th. Dogof XIII and XIX use the same player models as their 72.dat fighting rows (72/17 col24 = 74, 72/20 col24 = 79), so those two are fully human in the data: an NPC to talk to and a player-style enemy to fight. == What the numbers say == The rows were built as monster-class bosses, on the same pattern as the finished special monster Ou Getu (70.dat 12): * Own body records. col25/col26 point at 61.dat 94-103, records named after each gang member (61/94 Dogof XVII, 95 Great Gets, 96 Chomban, 98 Gany, 99 Dadas, 100 Muo, 101 Doran, 102 Mondes, 103 The Great Dogof). They are all zeros, i.e. placeholders. Ou Getu has the same kind of record (61/118). * Two named attacks each. col8/col9 and col12/col13 point at 62.dat 178-197: a pair per member (e.g. 62/178 and 179 are both "Dogof XVII"), OFC 200, the first with col16 = 120 and the second with 60. They also carry attack effect sprites col10 = 365 (
Em32
) and col14 = 367 (
Em35
). Ordinary monsters have one attack and no effect rows. * Overlay and sound. col6 = 1 with col30 = 392 (
Em63
) adds an extra effect layer, and col31 = 48 is the action sound. * No player gear. There is no gender (col5 = 0), no player armor and no player weapon. Unlike 72.dat, nothing in a row can dress a player-style character. A human-looking version of a 71.dat row therefore has to borrow its look: the NPC models above for the four Dogofs, or gear from a 72.dat bandit. Ou Getu suggests the intended end state: a boss with its own model and body record. The art for the gang never arrived, and the rows were left pointing at the Zep and Keid models. == How they are shown == By default the server (RG_Server_New,
RG_World_Entity.Create_Human
) sends each row as a human, the same way as the 72.dat enemies: a player character (dat 1/2 player body) with the row's Korean and English names and the Player Attack bit set. The rows have no player gear, so they wear the empty slots, bare hands (22,1) and No armor (31,1), and are male (col5 = 0). They still hit with their 62.dat attack record (OFC 200) and keep their own life, DEF, exp and drop. Optionally (
Borrowed_Model_Dats
), the server (
RG_World_Entity.Create_Borrowed
) can instead send each row as the loaded monster whose model it borrows (Dogof XVII as Linezep 64/26, Dogof II as Gorkeid 65/19, and so on), and keeps the row's own life, attack, exp and drop. On the client they therefore look, are named and move exactly like that monster. One catch: the client rolls a player's damage against its own record of the shown monster, and the Zep stones have DEF 10000-30000. A player attacking a Linezep-looking Dogof would see ~0 damage numbers. So for these the server ignores the client's number and rolls the hit itself against the 71.dat DEF. Onlookers see the real number; the attacker's own number is still the client's. == Overview == {| class="wikitable sortable" ! # !! Name !! Korean !! Model (borrowed from) !! Life !! DEF !! AGL !!
